A deposit is a specific sum of money taken and held on account, by a bank as a service provided for its clients. A financial institution wishing to take deposits are generally required be under financial supervision, and to hold a banking license.

The sum of the held deposits represents an asset, which the bank in turn can use to give loans.

Deposit is a village located in New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,699.

Geography


Deposit is located at 42°3'43" North, 75°25'24" West (42.061856, -75.423358)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.55% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 1,699 people, 716 households, and 436 families residing in the village. The population density is 520.6/km² (1,350.9/mi²). There are 823 housing units at an average density of 252.2/km² (654.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 96.53% White, 0.94% African American, 0.06% Native American, 0.82% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.94% from other races, and 0.65% from two or more races. 2.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 716 households out of which 31.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.7% are married couples living together, 12.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.0% are non-families. 34.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 3.03. In the village the population is spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 87.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.9 males. The median income for a household in the village is $24,702, and the median income for a family is $32,016. Males have a median income of $27,202 versus $19,333 for females. The per capita income for the village is $14,390. 17.6% of the population and 15.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 25.8% are under the age of 18 and 12.8% are 65 or older.

Deposit is a town located in Delaware County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,687.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 115.5 km² (44.6 mi²). 111.4 km² (43.0 mi²) of it is land and 4.1 km² (1.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.54% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 1,687 people, 700 households, and 445 families residing in the town. The population density is 15.1/km² (39.2/mi²). There are 1,048 housing units at an average density of 9.4/km² (24.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.27% White, 1.30% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. 1.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 700 households out of which 31.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.6% are married couples living together, 10.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.3% are non-families. 31.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.99. In the town the population is spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.9 males. The median income for a household in the town is $28,750, and the median income for a family is $35,536. Males have a median income of $27,434 versus $20,602 for females. The per capita income for the town is $15,068. 15.8% of the population and 11.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 26.3% are under the age of 18 and 8.3% are 65 or older.
