Ridgeville is a town located in Etowah County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 158.

Geography


Ridgeville is located at 34°3'26" North, 86°6'12" West (34.057110, -86.103232)1. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census2 of 2000, there are 158 people, 64 households, and 44 families residing in the town. The population density is 80.3/km² (208.0/mi²). There are 75 housing units at an average density of 38.1/km² (98.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 18.99% White, 79.11% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.90% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 64 households out of which 21.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 32.8% are married couples living together, 32.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% are non-families. 29.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 2.93. In the town the population is spread out with 21.5% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 29.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who are 65 years of age or older.
