PYBBA

Specialty Definition: Pybba of Mercia

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

Pybba (also Pibba, Wibba, Wybba) was king of Mercia, and father of Penda. His dates are sometimes given in genealogies as birth 570, reign 593, and death either 606 or 615, but with no apparent evidence; the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle just mentions him as father of Penda, with no further detail.

Pybba is also said to have been succeeded by one Ceorl, of unknown relationship, who ruled until Penda took the throne in 626.
