PREFERRED ORIENTATION

Specialty Definition: PREFERRED ORIENTATION

DomainDefinition

Mining

Feature of a rock in which the grains are more or less systematically oriented by shape. A schist in which the mica plates are parallel to one another shows a preferred orientation; so does a hornblende schist in which the long axes of the hornblende crystals are parallel.See also:orientation; unoriented. Danish

mellem disse to ydertilfaelde kan kornene have mere eller mindre foretrukken orientering, man betegner dette som foretrukken orientering eller enklere som tekstur (between these two extremes the grains may show various degrees of preferred orientation, or more simply texture, to which is given the term crystallographic orientation texture), en saadan foretrukken orientering kan foelges op helt fra den stoebte tilstand for at opnaa saerlige magnetiske egenskaber efter valsning (this kind of preferred orientation might be sought after in the as-cast state so as to obtain exceptional magnetic properties after rolling). (various references)

Dutch

tussen deze beide extremen kunnen de korrels een min of meer duidelijke voorkeursoriëntatie hebben;men noemt dit een georiënteerde structuur of wel-eenvoudiger gezegd-een textuur (between these two extremes the grains may show various degrees of preferred orientation, or more simply texture, to which is given the term crystallographic orientation texture), een dergelijke voorkeursoriëntatie kan al tijdens de smelt bewerkstelligd worden, ten einde na het walsen buitengewone magnetische eigenschappen te verkrijgen (this kind of preferred orientation might be sought after in the as-cast state so as to obtain exceptional magnetic properties after rolling). (various references)

French

une telle orientation privilégiée peut être recherchée dès la coulée pour obtenir après laminage des propriétés magnétiques exceptionnelles (this kind of preferred orientation might be sought after in the as-cast state so as to obtain exceptional magnetic properties after rolling), entre ces deux extrêmes les grains peuvent avoir une orientation préférentielle plus ou moins marquée, appelée texture d'orientation Cristallographique, ou simplement texture (between these two extremes the grains may show various degrees of preferred orientation). German

zwischen diesen beiden extremen Faellen koennen die Koerner eine mehr oder weniger ausgepraegte bevorzugte Orientierung aufweisen: man bezeiChnet dies als orientiertes Gefuege oder einfach als Textur (between these two extremes the grains may show various degrees of preferred orientation, or more simply texture, to which is given the term crystallographic orientation texture), eine solche bevorzugte Orientierung , Vorzugsorientierung, kann schon von der Schmelze her erarbeitet werden, um nach dem Walzen aussergewoehnliche magnetische Eigenschaften zu erhalten (this kind of preferred orientation might be sought after in the as-cast state so as to obtain exceptional magnetic properties after rolling). μεταξύ των δύο αυτών άκρων οι κόκκοι μπορούν να έχουν εναν κατά προτίμηση προσανατολισμό λιγότερο ή περισσότερο εμφανή,που καλείται υφή κρ (between these two extremes the grains may show various degrees of preferred orientation). (various references)

Un orientamento preferenziale di questo tipo puo venire elaborato gi dal momento della colata per ottenere caratteristiche magnetiche eccezionali dopo la laminazione (this kind of preferred orientation might be sought after in the as-cast state so as to obtain exceptional magnetic properties after rolling), Tra questi due casi estremi i grani possono presentare una preferenza di orientamento più o meno accentuata, la quale viene denominata tessitura orientata o più semplicemente tessitura (between these two extremes the grains may show various degrees of preferred orientation, or more simply texture, to which is given the term crystallographic orientation texture).
