OZMA

Ozma is a rock band from Pasadena, California; there sound is often compared to Weezer.

Ozma consists of Daniel Brummel (vocals/bass), Ryen Slegr (vocals/guitar), Patrick Edwards (drums), Jose Galvez (guitar) and Star Wick (keyboard/flute). The band was formed by high school friend in 1995, and after a few years of touring California, they earned enough money to finance the recording their first album entitled Rock and Roll Part Three. Rivers Cuomo, lead singer of Weezer, liked the band so much that he asked them to be the opening act for their 2001-2002 tour, before Ozma had a record label or booking agent.

They released their second album, The Doubble Donkey Disc, in June 2002. Their third album, Spending Time On The Borderline, was released in 2003. Many of the groups deal with Russian themes such as "Korobeiniki" (the theme from Tetris) and "Flight of Yuri Gagarin". The band's sound is mix of new wave-influenced power pop and rock with pleasant Moog-driven melodies and heavy guitar riffs. The complexity of the bands have grown considerably from their simple lyrics and melodies of their first release.
