Ogdensburg is a borough located in Sussex County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 2,638.

Geography


Ogdensburg is located at 41°4'48" North, 74°35'50" West (41.080066, -74.597201)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 6.0 km² (2.3 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.87% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 2,638 people, 881 households, and 704 families residing in the borough. The population density is 446.7/km² (1,154.7/mi²). There are 903 housing units at an average density of 152.9/km² (395.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 97.54% White, 0.15% African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 1.29% from two or more races. 4.17% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 881 households out of which 43.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.6% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% are non-families. 16.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.99 and the average family size is 3.38. In the borough the population is spread out with 29.5% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 102.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.9 males. The median income for a household in the borough is $60,313, and the median income for a family is $70,521. Males have a median income of $47,350 versus $35,060 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $24,305. 5.7% of the population and 4.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 9.6% are under the age of 18 and 7.1% are 65 or older.

Ogdensburg is located at 44°42'2" North, 75°28'52" West (44.700547, -75.481209)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 21.1 km² (8.2 mi²). 13.1 km² (5.1 mi²) of it is land and 8.0 km² (3.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 37.87% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 12,364 people, 4,181 households, and 2,583 families residing in the city. The population density is 941.6/km² (2,440.0/mi²). There are 4,531 housing units at an average density of 345.1/km² (894.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 85.05% White, 9.92% African American, 0.80% Native American, 0.69% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 2.81% from other races, and 0.67% from two or more races. 6.22% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,181 households out of which 31.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.5% are married couples living together, 15.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.2% are non-families. 32.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.39 and the average family size is 2.98. In the city the population is spread out with 21.3% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 35.3% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 127.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 134.6 males. The median income for a household in the city is $27,954, and the median income for a family is $36,236. Males have a median income of $32,358 versus $21,485 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,650. 18.3% of the population and 14.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 23.3% are under the age of 18 and 13.6% are 65 or older.
