(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

Makasar language is the spoken language of people in South Sulawesi/Celebes, one of the Indonesian islands. The language is descended from the Brahmi language of ancient India. Similarly to other descendants of that language, each consonant in the Makasar language has an inherent vowel. Other vowels can be indicated by adding diacritics above or below consonants.
