He graduated from the University of Ljubljana (1977) and received his Ph.D. from the Florida State University (1983).
He is a Professor of Geometry and Topology at the University of Ljubljana and the Head of the Slovenian Topology and Geometry Group at the Institute for Mathematics, Physics and Mechanics.
He is a recipient of the Award of the Republic of Slovenia for Scientific Work (1997) and the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia for Science (1995).
