Doniphan is a city located in Ripley County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,932. It is the county seat of Ripley County6.

Geography


Doniphan is located at 36°37'20" North, 90°49'20" West (36.622106, -90.822179)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.5 km² (1.4 mi²). 3.5 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 1,932 people, 844 households, and 480 families residing in the city. The population density is 544.5/km² (1,412.5/mi²). There are 951 housing units at an average density of 268.0/km² (695.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.60% White, 0.00% African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 0.41% from two or more races. 0.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 844 households out of which 25.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.6% are married couples living together, 14.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.1% are non-families. 40.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 27.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.11 and the average family size is 2.83. In the city the population is spread out with 21.2% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 21.9% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 30.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 71.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 68.7 males. The median income for a household in the city is $19,696, and the median income for a family is $29,875. Males have a median income of $23,438 versus $18,981 for females. The per capita income for the city is $14,407. 25.9% of the population and 19.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 32.3% are under the age of 18 and 25.8% are 65 or older.

Doniphan is a village located in Hall County, Nebraska. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 763.

Geography


Doniphan is located at 40°46'25" North, 98°22'17" West (40.773548, -98.371513)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 763 people, 288 households, and 213 families residing in the village. The population density is 640.4/km² (1,654.6/mi²). There are 300 housing units at an average density of 251.8/km² (650.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.43% White, 0.00% African American, 0.39% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. 2.36% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 288 households out of which 41.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.2% are married couples living together, 15.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% are non-families. 24.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.01. In the village the population is spread out with 30.7% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 19.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 85.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 77.5 males. The median income for a household in the village is $36,985, and the median income for a family is $42,917. Males have a median income of $30,588 versus $19,904 for females. The per capita income for the village is $15,641. 10.2% of the population and 9.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 12.1% are under the age of 18 and 8.4% are 65 or older.
