Abstract: Disclosed is a black ink composition containing a carbon black and a pigment represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein p represents an integer of from 0 to 3. Also disclosed is an ink set containing at least one kind of such a black ink composition as at least one of a black ink composition and a light black ink composition.
