B-homoestra-1,3,5(10)-trienes as modulators of tubulin polymerization

Invention: B-homoestra-1,3,5(10)-trienes as modulators of tubulin polymerization

Year    Description
2002Invention patented by Ernest Hamel and Mark S. Cushman on August 15th, 2002. Abstract: The invention provides B-ring expanded estra-1,3,5(10)-triene compounds of general formula (1) which modulate the polymerization of tubulin and/or the depolymerization of microtubules. The compounds have anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor activity. The invention also provides methods of preparing the compounds, and methods of using the compounds for the treatment of cancer or other mammalian diseases characterized by undesirable angiogenesis. The compounds of the invention are also expected to have utility as research tools. ##STR1##
