Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for improving the ageing properties of a silver halide photographic element, free of photolytically generated latent images, comprising a support bearing at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and at least one light-insensitive layer, the silver halide light-sensitive emulsion layer including negative acting surface latent image-type silver halide grain in association with a contrast promoting agent and a hydrazine compound, by adding a total amount of at least 0.40 grams per square meter of dextran to at least said light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and/or to at least said light-insensitive layer. |
