ATI

Specialty Definition: ATI

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

ATI Technologies Inc. is a Canadian manufacturer of graphics cards for personal computers, founded in 1985.

It became known as making integrated graphics chips by OEM for big PC manufacturers like IBM. Then it started to expand it's ATI Rage 128 series and was growing in independent card seller.

It is the main competitor to nVidia, who also produces graphics cards. ATI produces the Radeon series of graphics cards which directly compete with nVidia's GeForce graphics card.

Generally each developer releases a new version of its card, and controls the market for a short period of time. The other developer will in turn release a new graphics card, controlling the market for a short period of time, and so on.
