Abstract: The invention provides the use of an AT.sub.1 receptor antagonist, or a pharmaceutical salt thereof, for producing a pharmaceutical preparation for the stimulation of apoptosis and for the treatment of pathological symptoms which are substantially reduced, halted or prevented by apoptosis, and also corresponding pharmaceutical preparations.
