Agua Dulce is a town located in El Paso County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 738.

Geography


Agua Dulce is located at 31°38'28" North, 106°8'13" West (31.641162, -106.137037)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 21.0 km² (8.1 mi²). 21.0 km² (8.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics


As of the census2 of 2000, there are 738 people, 179 households, and 158 families residing in the town. The population density is 35.2/km² (91.3/mi²). There are 233 housing units at an average density of 11.1/km² (28.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 88.08% White, 1.76% African American, 0.68% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 7.45% from other races, and 2.03% from two or more races. 95.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 179 households out of which 65.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.0% are married couples living together, 14.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 11.7% are non-families. 10.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.12 and the average family size is 4.41. In the town the population is spread out with 46.2% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 32.4% from 25 to 44, 11.2% from 45 to 64, and 2.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 20 years. For every 100 females there are 106.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.5 males. The median income for a household in the town is $16,696, and the median income for a family is $17,500. Males have a median income of $16,667 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the town is $5,604. 41.4% of the population and 50.0% of families are below the poverty line. The racial makeup of the city is 79.38% White, 0.14% African American, 0.68% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 16.15% from other races, and 3.66% from two or more races. 66.08% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 234 households out of which 46.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% are married couples living together, 15.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.5% are non-families. 12.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.15 and the average family size is 3.46. In the city the population is spread out with 32.2% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.4 males. The median income for a household in the city is $31,406, and the median income for a family is $33,750. Males have a median income of $27,375 versus $18,875 for females. The per capita income for the city is $10,847. 25.2% of the population and 22.0% of families are below the poverty line.
