CONTOUR DITCH IRRIGATION

Specialty Definition: CONTOUR DITCH IRRIGATION

DomainDefinition

Food & Agriculture

Controlled flood irrigation in which water flows through irrigation-ditch openings or over ditch banks as a sheet across fields, its distribution being controlled by size and site of ditch opening and by spacing between ditches. The possible difference of the "contour ditch" from the flooding from ditches is that the head(or irrigation)ditches in the contour ditch method of irrigation generally follow the contour.
