Medicine

A single-stranded DNA that is formed from an mRNA template by the enzyme reverse transcriptase. Using radioactive nucleotides, cDNA can be obtained in a highly radioactive form and used as probe in hybridization assays to determine the number and location of genes in a chromosome, to construct maps of different genomes, to locate coding sequences in a portion of DNA.
