Warner is a town located in Merrimack County, New Hampshire. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,760.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 144.8 km² (55.9 mi²). 144.1 km² (55.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.43% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 2,760 people, 1,048 households, and 728 families residing in the town. The population density is 19.1/km² (49.6/mi²). There are 1,228 housing units at an average density of 8.5/km² (22.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.33% White, 0.04% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 0.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,048 households out of which 33.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.6% are married couples living together, 8.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% are non-families. 25.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 3.01. In the town the population is spread out with 24.5% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.0 males. The median income for a household in the town is $44,142, and the median income for a family is $50,926. Males have a median income of $36,143 versus $25,848 for females. As of the census of 2000, there are 1,430 people, 509 households, and 344 families residing in the town. The population density is 434.7/km² (1,128.1/mi²). There are 636 housing units at an average density of 193.4/km² (501.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 65.31% White, 3.99% African American, 24.06% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.77% from other races, and 5.87% from two or more races. 2.38% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 509 households out of which 31.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.5% are married couples living together, 12.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% are non-families. 27.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.99. In the town the population is spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 24.8% from 18 to 24, 22.2% from 25 to 44, 17.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 27 years. For every 100 females there are 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.5 males.
