A sedan car is the most common configuration of the modern automobile, having a higher passenger compartment between the lower hood covering the engine in the front, and the trunk at the rear.The terms are different in British English: the configuration is called a saloon, and has its engine under the bonnet at the front, and a boot for luggage at the rear.

Sedan is located at 37°7'42" North, 96°11'10" West (37.128472, -96.186220)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 1,342 people, 560 households, and 346 families residing in the city. The population density is 664.3/km² (1,712.6/mi²). There are 652 housing units at an average density of 322.7/km² (832.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 93.44% White, 0.52% African American, 3.35% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 0.45% from other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. 2.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 560 households out of which 23.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.9% are married couples living together, 10.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.2% are non-families. 35.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 2.90.
In the city the population is spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 21.3% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 27.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 83.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 80.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $24,324, and the median income for a family is $32,574. Males have a median income of $21,490 versus $19,261 for females. The per capita income for the city is $14,153. 11.1% of the population and 6.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 13.0% are under the age of 18 and 9.5% are 65 or older.

There are 30 households out of which 26.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.7% are married couples living together, 3.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 46.7% are non-families. 36.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.17 and the average family size is 2.94.
In the city the population is spread out with 21.5% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 35.4% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 103.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 112.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $29,375, and the median income for a family is $40,833. Males have a median income of $31,458 versus $16,750 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,355. 15.5% of the population and 11.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 33.3% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
