Occupations

Plans and administers operations of railroad or bus transportation system within geographic division, consistent with safe and efficient utilization of human resources and equipment, and convenience of shippers and passengers: Establishes and enforces administrative policies and procedures. Evaluates reports of train or bus movements, emergency changes in schedules, accidents, weather conditions, and other factors influencing operations to make decisions affecting service. Coordinates repair and maintenance of equipment within division, and recommends capital investments and erection of structures or other facilities. Investigates causes of accidents and delays in traffic and takes steps to ensure that they will not recur. Reviews complaints from shippers and passengers regarding improper or discourteous service. Interprets company agreements for subordinate officials to resolve or prevent labor-relations problems. Confers with state government regulatory commissions and other transportation systems to establish new fares, schedules, routes, and traffic agreements. May personally inspect company facilities and equipment throughout division. (references)
