Leyden is a town located in Franklin County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 772.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 46.6 km² (18.0 mi²). 46.6 km² (18.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.06% is water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 772 people, 277 households, and 219 families residing in the town. The population density is 16.6/km² (42.9/mi²). There are 306 housing units at an average density of 6.6/km² (17.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.45% White, 0.39% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.78% from two or more races. 0.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 277 households out of which 37.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.2% are married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% are non-families. 16.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.78 and the average family size is 3.08. In the town the population is spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 30.7% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.2 males. The median income for a household in the town is $50,385, and the median income for a family is $53,750. Males have a median income of $40,192 versus $29,659 for females. The per capita income for the town is $26,076. 4.7% of the population and 3.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 7.7% are under the age of 18 and 3.0% are 65 or older.

Leyden is a town located in Lewis County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,792.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 86.9 km² (33.5 mi²). 86.3 km² (33.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.66% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 1,792 people, 676 households, and 488 families residing in the town. The population density is 20.8/km² (53.8/mi²). There are 807 housing units at an average density of 9.4/km² (24.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 99.05% White, 0.22% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.45% from two or more races. 0.17% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 676 households out of which 37.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.0% are married couples living together, 12.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.8% are non-families. 23.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.61 and the average family size is 3.07. In the town the population is spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 98.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.2 males. The median income for a household in the town is $29,489, and the median income for a family is $33,512. Males have a median income of $27,424 versus $20,250 for females. The per capita income for the town is $14,252. 19.0% of the population and 13.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 23.5% are under the age of 18 and 17.5% are 65 or older.
