Hopkins is a village located in Allegan County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 592.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 592 people, 219 households, and 162 families residing in the village. The population density is 439.6/km² (1,137.1/mi²). There are 229 housing units at an average density of 170.0/km² (439.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 94.09% White, 0.51% African American, 1.86% Native American, 1.18% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 2.20% from two or more races. 1.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 219 households out of which 39.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.2% are married couples living together, 14.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% are non-families. 23.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.70 and the average family size is 3.19. In the village the population is spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.5 males. The median income for a household in the village is $38,462, and the median income for a family is $39,583. Males have a median income of $31,500 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the village is $16,667. 8.9% of the population and 8.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 5.4% are under the age of 18 and 8.5% are 65 or older.

Hopkins is a city located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 17,145.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.6 km² (4.1 mi²). 10.6 km² (4.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 17,145 people, 8,224 households, and 3,741 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,622.5/km² (4,205.9/mi²). There are 8,390 housing units at an average density of 794.0/km² (2,058.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 82.61% White, 5.19% African American, 0.78% Native American, 5.92% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 2.58% from other races, and 2.82% from two or more races. 5.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 8,224 households out of which 22.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.4% are married couples living together, 10.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 54.5% are non-families. 42.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.03 and the average family size is 2.85. In the city the population is spread out with 19.6% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 37.2% from 25 to 44, 18.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 90.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.5 males. The median income for a household in the city is $39,203, and the median income for a family is $50,359. Males have a median income of $37,541 versus $30,687 for females. The per capita income for the city is $26,759. 9.3% of the population and 8.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 12.3% are under the age of 18 and 6.7% are 65 or older.

As of the census of 2000, there are 579 people, 235 households, and 167 families residing in the city. The population density is 310.5/km² (801.5/mi²). There are 265 housing units at an average density of 142.1/km² (366.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.96% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. 0.52% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
