Hippocras A cordial made of Lisbon and Canary wines, bruised spices, and sugar; so called from the strainer through which it is passed, called by apothecaries Hippocrates' sleeve. Hippocrates in the Middle Ages was called "Yypocras" or "Hippocras." Thus:
