Harrington is a city located in Kent County, Delaware. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,174.

Geography


Harrington is located at 38°55'28" North, 75°34'29" West (38.924446, -75.574720)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.3 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.48% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 3,174 people, 1,223 households, and 825 families residing in the city. The population density is 612.7/km² (1,587.1/mi²). There are 1,328 housing units at an average density of 256.4/km² (664.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 75.17% White, 21.64% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.72% from other races, and 1.67% from two or more races. 2.52% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,223 households out of which 37.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.9% are married couples living together, 18.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.5% are non-families. 27.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.13. In the city the population is spread out with 31.3% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 18.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 84.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.8 males. The median income for a household in the city is $30,945, and the median income for a family is $36,815. Males have a median income of $32,064 versus $20,801 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,049. 16.5% of the population and 12.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 26.7% are under the age of 18 and 13.3% are 65 or older.

Harrington is a town located in Washington County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 882.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 136.9 km² (52.9 mi²). 54.8 km² (21.2 mi²) of it is land and 82.1 km² (31.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 59.97% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 882 people, 364 households, and 256 families residing in the town. The population density is 16.1/km² (41.7/mi²). There are 563 housing units at an average density of 10.3/km² (26.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.07% White, 0.00% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 1.25% from two or more races. 1.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 364 households out of which 29.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.4% are married couples living together, 9.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.4% are non-families. 22.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.79. In the town the population is spread out with 21.5% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 28.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.7 males. The median income for a household in the town is $26,579, and the median income for a family is $29,211. Males have a median income of $24,038 versus $16,447 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,224. 19.2% of the population and 14.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 31.9% are under the age of 18 and 9.1% are 65 or older.

Harrington is located at 47°28'49" North, 118°15'20" West (47.480251, -118.255422)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²). 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 426 people, 187 households, and 115 families residing in the city. The population density is 432.8/km² (1,122.2/mi²). There are 235 housing units at an average density of 238.8/km² (619.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.18% White, 0.00% African American, 1.41% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.17% from two or more races. 0.94% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 187 households out of which 27.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.9% are married couples living together, 7.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.0% are non-families. 36.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 2.92. In the city the population is spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 22.3% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 22.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.1 males. The median income for a household in the city is $29,792, and the median income for a family is $45,000. Males have a median income of $30,625 versus $16,563 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,744. 12.0% of the population and 3.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 7.7% are under the age of 18 and 7.7% are 65 or older.
